Evan turned six weeks old yesterday. Apparently that means the little dictator won an a 24-hour access nursing pass. What does that mean for me? Well today it means don't even bother getting up off the couch, except for eating, bathroom breaks or letting the dog out (and you better do it quick). Luckily, I've been expecting this growth spurt (thank you babycenter.com) or I wouldn't have known what hit me. I'm also happy to report that I can expect to get my new normal life with Evan back within a few days. Thank Neptune!
Last night was really rough...I don't think I got any sleep until I pitifully rolled over at 5:15 a.m. and asked Mike, "can you get him this time?" And Mike was all over it. Yay Daddy! He even got to feed Evan twice within the hour! He was fussing and hungry all night, waking up every 45min to an hour. Luckily, as soon as I picked him up, or plugged in his pacifier, he'd go back to sleep most of time but it was too hard for me to be up and down and get much sleep at all. Amazingly, I feel pretty awake and well today. I guess your body really does get used to it.
So today, I figured out a way to hold Evan so that I can doze, write or play on the internet while he sleeps on my chest (thereby allowing him to sleep longer and sounder). This way, we can both store up energy for the next nursing session. I don't mind at all... after all, when he's awake I get my paycheck of smiles and baby conversations to keep me going. Nevertheless, I'll be glad when he's back to his every 3-4 hour schedule!
