A really cool thing for all you Georgia (and beyond) people...

I've been wanting to try a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) for a long time, but there haven't been pickup points near enough to make it worth trying. Being pregnant and extra thoughtful about everything I put into my mouth, I've been wondering about it even more. So I was bummed I couldn't really get into it. But I didn't think about the fact that Mike works downtown and could easily make the pick up after work (THANKS Cynthia for suggesting this!) Mike's sister, Cynthia, told us about one in Atlanta that seems to be the best one around. We joined last week and got our first box of food on Friday and now I'm SOLD.

This is the coolest idea!! Check it out...for $25 a year and $20/box of food you get locally grown and often organic food packaged up for you every week. I thought this would be a really cool way to get some farmer's market quality food for a good price and get some different kinds of food. We were SOOOO bored with our usual routine and usual veggies. Already we discovered a yummy new food...swiss chard...and a yummy new recipe to cook it. I'm so excited, I can't wait to see what the veggie Santa brings us this week! In case you're curious we also got a bunch of fresh basil, a pint of strawberries, a couple pounds of new potatoes, 2 tomatoes, 5 cucumbers (which were wasted on a gross cucumber soup recipe :()... and a vidalia onion!

You can also order extra items from their online market and they will add it to your box. This week we're getting eggs and fresh garlic. But they have all kinds of things like jams, coffee, pasta, meat...its like going to the farmer's market from home! I liked it so much I just had to jump up on my soapbox and plug another small way you can help the environment, small business owners (like your local family farmer) and feed yourself better food. So there you go.
