Can't wait for Blob of Goo to get here!

Well I decided it was well overdue time for an update...especially since I really felt like a stay-at-home mom today. Kite and Tuna were making me practice... how?

Well, I came home from work to let Kite out for her usual lunchtime pee-break only to find that she had had several accidents. Yay. After my initial dismay I spotted some blood in her pee...uh oh... that could be bad. So we were off to the vet immediately. Turns out she has a bad urinary tract infection and the vet's office itself gives her a fever from anxiety...this time it got up to 105 in the time it took to examine her!!! I've got to make them be faster...she is so terrified and gets herself so worked up. So they sent me home to watch over her while they did bloodwork to make sure it hadn't gotten to her kidneys.

So that was the end of my work day. Enter stay-at-home mom Jess. I gave her her medicine (and dinner) after she had a nice long cooling off nap in a well-padded for drama-queens bed (with the special Kite-fever-fan blowing on her). A few minutes later I hear a horking noise from around the corner. Oh no! She must be puking up her medicine! No, it's Tuna...puking up HIS dinner (which he ate too fast b/c he is such an oinker). Then I took Kite out and she decides to have the squirts too...which the vet's probably also gave her from anxiety. Exasperated I'm thinking to myself...ok.... how will I do all this with a kid in tow? Maybe kiddo will be sick too!! Ah Motherhood....ready or not....here it comes!!

Ok...that was the bad part of the latest post. Now here's the good part and the part you're all interested in anyway (or is that another new mom thing...blogging about a kid that really only I am interested in ;) So we went to see Gina for our 22 weeks ultrasound (the big one, if you use correct terminology) to see how Blob is doing. It had been quite a while since our last one, but much more tolerable b/c now I can feel him practicing his calisthenics every hour or so and getting ready to become the next Michael Phelps. So we went and everything looked great...still measuring a week ahead, with all fingers and toes intact. This time we got a few good 3D pics and decided to keep them since he no longer looks like diablo fetus but an actual baby. yay! Here are some of the better pictures:

AND....he has a name!!! No longer shall he be known as Blob of Goo unless the presence of a cute middle school girlfriend requires me to refer to him as that for embarrassment-effect.

We are calling him Evan Charles Searcy.

I was named after my dad John Charles as Jessica Caroline (Caroline being a form of Charles). Evan is a form of John...so he is named after his Papa coming down the line in sort of a tradition of naming but also changing it to be unique. This name is the product of many many many discussions and negotiations between Mike and me, and I now admit that Mike gets to have a lot more sway over naming the next one...fair enough! Thank you Mikey!!! Everyone just loves Evan and he seems to feel like an Evan to me, more so than the other names we thought of, which we'll save for later. So that is one major task accomplished!

Some of you guys have also been asking for belly pics so I guess I'll post a couple of the more tolerable ones. I didn't think I would have a shy belly but I guess it is a little shy! These are from our recent trip to Panama City Beach, FL were we had a great weekend of Advance SCUBA certification (for Mike and ATL pals) and lounging on the beach/snorkeling (for me and another couple of preggo ATL pals). The weekend was followed by 3 solid days of stormy weather so Mike and I got to watch a lot of Olympics and fail miserably at putting a puzzle together. Here's what I look like when I'm sick of rainy weather at the beach. The puzzle can kiss my grits.

This one is a little more flattering. Do these count as belly pics? ...I know some of you guys are annoyed with me now, saying I've cheated and these are not official. Sorry >:P tough toenails.
