As you can see...I'm up at 2a.m., oh wait 3a.m. now WIDE awake b/c I took one excedrin which has caffeine in it and I'm the giganticist caffeine weenie ever. I have a cold. So does Mike. We're miserable...feel sorry for us. Ok thanks, now read the following humorous quip about my four year old nephew:
Setting: At mom and dad's in Athens visiting the family for xmas. It's been off and on thunderstorming and the sun has gone down...it is about time for me to be getting home to the other sick person I know.
Me: "Well, I guess I better get going?"Grant (jumps up and throws himself spread eagle across the door) saying dramatically: "No you can't leave, it's WAY too dangerous for you to go home now...you MUST stay here!"
Me: "But won't Uncle Mike be sad if I don't come home?"
Grant: "Oh well...just call him and tell him to come here."
(pause)
Grant (matter of factly): "He can sleep with you and Mana in Mana's room..."
For this story to be funny, it's important you know who "Mana" is...not just anyone...
...Mana (from heaven) is my mom...Mike's soon-to-be-mother-NLAW.
Me (trying not to fall off my chair): "Well let me just get him on the phone then and see what he says..."
As Gina would say..."oh Grant!" ; ) what a cutie
MERRY XMAS!!
Hope everybody is having a good xmas. This year we're having xmas in 3 parts...Kentucky, Atlanta and Athens. We've got 2 down, 1 to go. This a.m., we woke up and first things first we made some coffee in our new coffee maker, with me in my snappy new pjs (both from Mike's mom and dad). Even Mike, the non-coffee drinker, tried some (with a little Bailey's added of course!).
Next, Tuna and Kite discovered that Santa had been to our house! He brought catnip and peanut butter filled goodies and some new toys! Lots of things to snuffle at.

Then Mike and I got to open our presents to each other.
I got a new game for game night (Boggle - woo hoo!), some books I've been wanting, and some new running clothes. Mike got some new books, a new won't-see-him-for-days-on-the-computer game, and his number one "i-want-it," an iced-tea maker!
After all the paper-ripping was over, we decided to play with our big present, and its newest accessory, a tripod! Sweet! Here are the results:

We still have a ton to learn about our new toy, so thank goodness we also got two photography books for dummies! The hardest part is the image editing we have to do to get them set for the web. We need an external flash really bad (hint hint). Here are a couple more pictures Mike took in Kentucky of his mom's xmas tree and our baby nephew Reece. Both are awesome!
That's all for now. Cheers to all our friends and family, we love you and wish you the happiest of holidays and good things to come for 2008!
Hey everybody...
...so I have a favor to ask....
...I was hoping you guys could dig around in your memories and favorite books and submit to me some poetry or other readings that might be good for our wedding. We do have one thing picked out but we haven't even started on writing the ceremony and I'd love some more material to work with. I googled a lot and keep coming up empty, plus it would mean more to us if it came from one of you! Gimme whatcha got. Love Jess
So here are a few more xmas spirit pics for you guys. Can you find me in them? I am so excited about getting creative with this camera...no more waiting for pictures to develop and conserving film with picture taking. Instant Gratification baby! Unfortunately I just found out that my brother can't share my joy (or wallow in his jealousy) until he gets back to the States...apparently these sites are banned in China. No free speech for me there. Boo.
Mike went out this morning and got a HUGE tree. This is our 2nd xmas together so we had most of our decorations already. Last year we tried to take pictures but they didn't really turn out with our little point and shoot. Now we have a better camera. Sweet! Last night I drove Mike around the neighborhood so he could try out the camera with people's xmas lights. They turned out so much better than we've ever had nighttime pics turn out. Yay for new toys! Check out our pictures here.
So I decided it would be easier to share our adventures and shenanigans with you guys online rather than emailing every time we have a cool new picture or event to tell you about. This is spurred by the fact that we are enjoying our new xmas/wedding/birthday/next3yearspresents present to each other: a Canon D40 camera!! Woo hoo! We've waited a whole year for this moment and now we need a place to post our favorite pictures. I think you can subscribe to our blog and everytime we update our blog an email will be sent to you telling you to check it out. But we're still figuring it out so stay posted. YAY!
